I have a 9 yr old German shepherd and have only heard her bark a hand full of times when the kids have teased her in excitment,she never barks when someone is at the door has never barked at other dogs but she hears perfectly fine,does anyone elses dog not bark??

She probably is just a calm nice maybe a little bit shy dog. Its ok nothings probaly wrong with her, but the next time you go to the vet ask the vet to check. the only dog who can't bark is the Basenji.

Just as a point of interest. I used to do parcel deliveries. Some houses had dogs that barked when you approached but some of these dogs didn't make a sound if no one was home. Used to only bark if someone was in. Made me laugh. They thought the house well guarded when they were out. 'No one will come by with him here'....they were surprised when I told them.

I have a 6 month old Yorkie and he doesn't bark either. I could have sworn that he'd be one of those yappy little dogs that they are known to be, but he's not. I'm kinda thankful for it. The only time I've heard him bark was when the neighbors cat was out on our balcony! Be grateful, I am!

I have a gs/collie mix and the number of times I've heard her bark I could count on 2 hands. Guess we should count ourselves luncky since barking is one of those behaviors that can often get out of control.

My dog rarely barks at anyone coming in the door. It is just their personality. Nothing wrong with her, don't worry=)

She's just not a barker some dogs bark more than others she only does when she finds it nessecary just like some people are more quiet than others. Be glad, mine never stops!

thats like my dog he don't bark that much only when someone is at the door or if he hears something. If I tell him ti speak he won't.

Mine hardly ever barks. . . Maybe once/month. Lhasa Apso.
This is just fine with me and nothing is wrong with him. Actually, he thinks he is one of us and doesn't really know he's a dog!
