nope, your pastor's wife needs to read the Bible for herself and stop just taking her husband's word for it...
Proverbs 31 is said to describe the perfect wife ... and not only does she have servants to do her housework, she is a marvellous business woman.
Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar.
15 She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.
17 She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.
19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hand holds the spindle.
20 She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
22 She makes tapestry for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies sashes for the merchants.
25 Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “ Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.
I think you need to find a church that is Bible-based and not a religious institution.
God bless you.

Everything we do is a sin. None of us are exactly alike. All differences from the will of God or interpretation of the smallest part of God are sins. Without sin, there could be no life! However, rule of law says we should maintain some semblance of order in life.
If your pastor is a busy man, working many hours a day, someone has to maintain his family life. He can't. So, in order to maintain a viable family life, that woman should stay home or not be the wife of that pastor. If a woman was a pastor, that would go for her husband also. It is courtesy and order to have a family life with love and calm in the face of adversity and stress. That is the way I see it.

No, but I know scores of people who don't read the Bible and will listen to whatever their pastor tells them. Too bad she's also married to him. I'd ask the pastor if he's saying this and why his wife thinks that. If he says it, too, I'd find a new church - he's obviously narrow-minded and translating the Bible in the way he wants to. Makes you wonder what else he is lying about.

The Bible does not say this, the pastor's wife is wrong.
Ask her to show you where it says that, and then ask her about the passages below, where this married mother and "ideal woman" from Proverbs clearly does business outside the home.
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=24&chapter=31&version=31&context=chapter
and this one from the New Testament, Lydia, who was a dealer of purple cloth:

Sounds like the pastor's wife is trying to justify her own bias.

Women are often taught that based on Titus 2:4-5. I Tim. 5:8,14 is also used to try to point that out. It is something a couple has to decide together, privately. In my family my mother didn't work outside the home unless we were really short on cash. She ended up working alot!

That makes me very angry. protestant Churches tend to manipulate people who are seeking righteousness and confuse truth with personal beliefs. Do not take away from or add to the word of God. The Pastor's wife doesn't know what she's talking about.

The bible is filled with anti female undertones. It's filled with the idea that women are to be submissive and second to men. It's not right. The bible was written by man and it sorely antiquated. People need to stop doting on the past and focus on the present.

Hasn't been like that since "money monkey business" found they could get two for the price of one or one and one-half. The two big inventions, that helped families work for someone else at half price, were the sewing machine and type writer. Enjoy.

I think it is a blessing not to have to work outside the home, but for some of us (single moms) we have to. It is not a sin to earn money to provide for your family.

No, but the Bible does say, (Eph 5:22) Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
