Also, when you get ready to transfer the title as mentioned by the second answer, the DMV will want proof of insurance (maybe) & a drivers license to confirm you can own that car. The reality is, you will get into a butt load of trouble if you buy a car & drive it w/ no license. The fines and court fees will outweigh the need to break the law. Don't do it. In any state, TX included, to buy a new or used car at a dealer, you must show a license. Also, to buy a car at a dealer, they will want proof of insurance in order to finance it. Then you'll need a license to buy insurance. So, to sum up what I'm saying, get a license. It's not that difficult.

Maybe if you're paying cash. But even then I doubt that a reputable dealer would sell it to you. Most of the paperwork for a sale requires a drivers license number.

I never bought a car in any state but NY, and I never showed a license. That over 40 yrs.
