I do not have a suppressed immune system, my cold sore drys up, bleeds occasionally, heals then repeats it, starting within hours after healing. Ive never had a cold sore last this long, its going on 31/2 weeks now. How can I get rid of it, what can I topically apply to it to make it go away and keep it dormant. No, I am not heavily stressed. Please, somebody help me.

if the cold sore is on your lip, it is probably cracking open from moving your mouth. Buy abreva, over the counter, it's the best stuff. Or you could go to your doctor and get an antiviral like valtrex to help them heal and not come back.

try pawpaw ointment. i have the same problem at the moment. it sounds like the cold sore has long gone and your just left with a cracked lip.

i used zovirax ointment to get rid of the cold sore but the cracked lip has remained and keeps recracking. the pawpaw ointment soothes and repairs the crack.

a way to tell is if its a cold sore there would be tingle and burning but if its just a cracked lip a general pain and more anoying.

I hope this helps.

Try some Neosporin or similar antibiotic ointment you can buy over the counter. It'll not only knock out whatever little infection may have set it in, it'll keep the scab supple so it's not breaking every time you smile and will help speed up healing.

Maybe what you think is a cold sore is actually something else. I'd say it's time to go to the dermatologist.
