I will be going under general anesthesia in 5 days and I know that I am not supposed to go forward with the surgery if I am sick. The evening after i went in for the pre-op (yesterday), I noticed this bump behind my right ear. I am guessing it may be a lymph node? I don't feel sick at all. If I feel fine could this have any effect on my surgery or will I be all right? I guess I'm mostly concerned about a weakened immune system.

Highly unlikely that surgery will be postponed for that.

If you have a cold (stuffy nose, sore throat, cough) it's a different story. Colds put you at increased risk for respiratory complications.

Unless the bump (lymph nose?) is at the surgical site, everything should go as planned.

Good luck!

I would suggest just letting your doctor know, if may just be some swelling or there could possibly be something more to it, your doctor should be able to make the best decision about it. Good luck!

You should ask the doctor who is doing the surgery and/or the anesthesiologist.
