Well, you certainly are under attack and the best thing to do is commit it to God and I suggest reading the Psalms, especially 118

Questioning religious underpinnings is a good thing! ...and scarey! Sounds like you're undergoing a metamorphosis. Very cool, and a lot of potential for growth. Keep an open mind. You might want to keep a dream journal by your bed. Generally dreams are symbolic of our inner selves/souls/ subconcious whatever you call it. Writing dreams down and talking about them take some of the fright away, and may give you some insight about what you are thinking about deep down.

I am not agnostic, but see that as sometimes a necessary step for some in order that real spiritual growth can happen. You may want to talk with other agnostics. Bon voyage!

There are two possible explanations:

1) Your nightmares and your change in beliefs are unrelated.

2) You feel some residual guilt and fear based on your previous beliefs. Religious beliefs can be very powerful and very deeply rooted, and can be difficult to overcome. Learn more about religion and why it is not logical. The more you learn and grow comfortable with your agnostic beliefs, the more you will see how ridiculous your fears are. Eventually, your nightmares will cease.

You may be having low blood sugar while you sleep, nightmares are a classic symptom of this. Try eating some protein before you go to sleep, an egg, or some meat or a peanut butter (without jelly) sandwich.

Don't eat any sugar within six hours of going to bed. If this is what you're having, you should probably cut back sugar altogther anyway.

Try that and see if it helps. If it's low blood sugar, your nightmares should disappear after that.

ignore the fools saying there are religious reasons behind this they are just dreams lots of people have bad dreams all the time I have them on a regular basis that is when I dream at all so really the only unnatural explanation that I can give to this is that a lot of people have ill will against you for turning against them although congrats on the change in religion finally someone else has broken from that stupidity.

It's a little thing called guilt. Your subconcience is still trying to sort things out. They will go away in time.
No, it's nothing you did. Switching faiths can cause you to feel guilty. If you are still having problems sleeping in a couple weeks, consult your doctor.

Maybe God is leading you to Him.

Also I think there is a category called Dream Interpretations that may answer your questions better. I'm not trying to be rude.

Fear is part of the human condition. So is facing it. Take a deep breath and relax. If you have doubts about your recent conversion maybe you should think about it further.

I'll try not to be rude. With all due respect it's not impossible that you're neurotic.

I use to have nightmares all the time also. This is satan tormenting you. You need to return to Jesus, He can set you free and give you the peace that you are desiring.
