Searcher you are correct. :) I know several really nice fundies that I respect a great deal. But it's because they respect me. I suppose my point is that many Christians do the whole "But what if your wrong, you should believe just in case" and I always wonder which they want more?
People who claim to be Christian and aren't, or people who are good to te world around them and are HONEST in thier beliefs.

Why can so few Christians simply answer the question in the spirit it was asked?

I'll take honesty any day!!

I'm a fundie and living in the stereotypical "fundie" world would scare me.

But, I have this feeling that if you were to actually step inside some of the fundie churches, you would find some pretty decent people that might be nice and non-judgmental. It's unfortunate, because there are some vocal judgmental people out there that paint the remainder of the people very negatively.

There are good and bad people in all religions. The fanatics' belief can be lop-sided based prominently on hate mongering as they have not understood the inner secrets of their religion. But the honest and truthful will finally win .

Not all Christians are like that, just a handful. Not all of those that follow Ghandi are honest and nice either.

Blech. Jerry Falwell? Thank God he is dead and can't spread his hatred and bigotry any longer.

Ghandi would be a much better role model for humanity, in my opinion.

But then I'm not Christian, I'm Jewish.

I'd prefer Gandhi - no questions.

I know he wasn't prefect, but he accepted others & without threats he earnt the heart of his country.

A world full of Falwells is horrible. I prefer anyone else over him frankly as long as the person is honest and has convictions. Doesn't matter who it is.

Having a world full of Mahatmas would be nice.

NewCatholic: Gandhi wasn't Buddhist.

All Christians are not hate mongers and not all Buddhists are like Gandhi.

we are all human, and Catholics in particular tend to be pretty humble about ourselves.

Good Luck and God Bless.

Ghandi split hell wide open with his selfworship and rejection of the only true God, Why would any sane person want to follow that path?
