Your Hyundai Sonata should be turning about 1900 rpms when you are doing 60 mph. You might check to see if you have your transmission in 4Th gear, instead of 5Th...it is pretty easy to do, just check your instrument panel, it will tell you which gear your car is in, it is right next to the speedometer. If you see that it is in 5th, I would contact my dealer and find out whats up?

It's high if you want decent gas mileage. However the RPM's at speed are dependent primarily on the rear end ratio and the transmission final gear ratio. If the transmission doesn't have overdrive the final gear ratio is 1to1 and then the rear end ratio is the only determining factor. Unless Hyundai has optional ratios for the rear end there isn't a thing you can do about it.
