You completely misunderstand.
Satan (the Devil) is himself doomed to eternal damnation. He simply wants to take you there with him.
" "Then he (Messiah) will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' "
Matthew 25:41-43

My interpretation has always been that it's not the devil's decision as to who goes to Heaven or Hell. Rather, GOD is the one who punishes the evildoers, by not allowing them into Heaven. Therefore they go to Hell and suffer WITH the devil.
Besides, if good people were rewarded by God, and evil people were rewarded by the devil, then everyone would be rewarded no matter WHAT they do, and that simply wouldn't make sense. The devil doesn't owe anyone favors.
Good question though, philosophically!

This is a very common misconception. Yes Satan has made himself an enemy of God and all that is good - but the cute little picture of the devil in Hell with his red suit and pitchfork, torturing bad people for all of eternity just isn't found in the Bible. In fact the Bible tells us that Satan will be burning in that lake of eternal fire along with his angels and those who haven't obeyed God in Matthew 25:41.

I always thought that the devil rewarded selfish evil people in this life. It will be their "reward" in the next life to suffer the torments of being apart from God.

Excellent question!! The concept of the devil is a perfect example of how religion is used in every culture to control people. We were always told to be good so we don't go to hell. No one has realized that if we are bad or evil then we get to go to hell - which would be a good thing in that case!

Who is human's enemy?
God is but then Satan is also. Both are bad for humans.
How can that be? Satan should be friend of human beings.
The only problem is humans cannot defend themselves from these two beings.
If humans can defend themselves then maybe we might have some good battles.
Another problem is all these are created by men. So, no such battles can take place except in the movies.
It would be nice to see a movie on how God and bad angels fight or how good angels and bad angels fight since bith have eternal life and how does one kill another if they can never die.
If you throw a fire ball at the other angel, my guess is that angel acquire more energy.

I suppose the philosophy goes that God loves everyone, and that the Devil taking the sinners away and buring them forever is hurting God in a way.

Satan doesnt love anyone.... He hates you and wants you to go to hell and burn with him for eternity through your disobedience.
God loves you and desires your obedience and love for an eternal reward in Heaven....
You have a free will either obey or disobey God.... to disobey means you will be given the same punishment as Satan.
It's that simple, don't try and twist up or confuse the real situation taking place.

He hates God wants his power. Making people not believe in God or makes them commit sins it hurts God.
God does not want his people to go to Hell.
Also the Devil does not get to torment any one in hell. He him self is being tormented. It is his punishment for turning his back on God.

The devil doesn't care about anyone on this earth or in hell. He just wants to beat God and take away as many Christians as possible. It is just a contest to him and he doesn't care about anyone, but himself.
