It sounds pretty strange that a dentist would MAKE you swallow amalgam. But, even if you did, it is very unlikely that it would make you sick. Dental amalgam has been used for over 100 years and their really isn't any legitimate scientific proof that you can get mercury poisoning from dental restorations. No, you can't sue. It is considered a frivolous case, and besides, how would you prove that you swallowed it? It's not like it's radioactive or that you're going to have body scans to prove it. I hope it will ease your mind to know that it will most likely pass harmlessly through your system.
OK, so you did have a scan that showed it was swallowed. I still stand by what I said that it will pass harmlessly through your system. The amalgam scares that have been perpetrated are not based in fact but in a petri dish. Below is a link that explains more about the so-called dangers of dental amalgam.

Why would your dentist MAKE you swallow peices of your metal filling? I'm confused how a dentist could do that, but YES, of course you can sue! It is called medical malpractice, find an attorney who does medical malpractice and ask for a consultation - the attorney will let you know if you have a case.

No, you can't sue because you can't get sick from swallowing dental amalgam. The onus would be on you to prove it caused you sickness, and there is an overwhelming amount of evidence that swallowing amalgam will do nothing to you at all.
Perhaps you have coincidentally developed another type of illness. Have you been to your GP?

I don't think he MADE YOU SWALLOW. YOU did out of reflex. Also, It wouldn't make you sick. You can sue, but you will waste your time, and money doing it. Sorry, get an education. you can make more money that way.

He made you? You mean he didn't allow you to take a drink of water, swish, & spit it out? Wasn't his assistant there to suction out the old filling while he drilled out the tooth? You will pass the chunks of filling.

Doesn't sound legal to me, and it can't be good for you, you should be able to win any mal-practice suit.
