Probably pointless to argue with you as you have your mind made up, but it's YOU that are adding the word "polygamy" to those scriptures. They're not there.
The New and Everlasting Covenant is Marriage. That has been clarified 100 times over.....so why are you coming on here and trying to say that it's something different?
Why do you hate Mormons??? Why are you trying to slander them rather than preach what you believe to be true.

While LDS Church doctrine teaches that we should heed the council of past prophets, the Church also teaches that it should never be at the expense of what present prophets have said (and continue to say). It's very much like how the Law of Moses existed for the Israelites until the Lord came into mortality, and replaced the Law of Moses with a higher law. It is the same way with polygamy - it has been replaced (at least for a time) by a different law. Anyone who claims that LDS scripture condemns the LDS Church has no knowledge of all LDS doctrine.
(And if you think that the Lord would never change or suspend a law like polygamy, ask any other Christian denomination out there today why they don't believe that it continues now, even though Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David and Solomon all had multiple wives & concubines.)

Those first 6 verses are talking about the new and everlasting covenant. That means eternal marriage. It does not mean polygamy nor has it ever. It simply means marriage that is sealed in the temple for time and all eternity as a covenant between wife, husband and God. No where in our doctrine, both past and present, has the new and everlasting covenant been referred to as polygamy.
Again, that is talking about eternal marriage, not polygamy.
I'm guessing this will have been pointless to answer because I doubt you will even try to see my point of view. Rather, you are here to condemn me.
I am a mormon woman married to my husband in the new and everlasting covenant (eternal marriage). I am his only wife. I do not know any members of my church who practice polygamy. The guy on the news (Warren Jeffs) was in the FLDS church, not the LDS church.

Ok, this question is so wrong. Yes we still believe in the Everlasting covenant but. It is two fold, one of which was suspended by God due to a revelation. The New and everlasting Covenant is Eternal marriage, at the same time if God wills is it can be to more than one woman at a time. If you knew half as much about the LDS Faith as you claim. You would not be answering your own question.

It sound like you study this...
Take into account that the LDS church stopped practicing Polygamy around 1890 (they had a decree from the leadership of the church, primarily because they wanted to obtain statehood for Utah).
But, the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints church (a la Warren Jeffs) still actively practices polygamy, and they probably use those scriptures to back up their viewpoint.

I can see that you did not listen to the last general conference. In Elder M. Russel Ballad talk he says "Mormons place particularly strong emphasis on family as the basic unit of the church and society. We have a deep commitment to marriage (defined as a union between one wan and one woman). Polygamy a limited practice in the early pioneer days of the Church, was discontinued in 1890, some 117 years ago."

The phrase "modern Mormon polygamist" is a misnomer. Mormons do not practice polygamy. Even in cultures where polygamy is acceptable (some Muslim countries, for example), Mormons NEVER have more than one wife. Any member found to have more than one wife is excommunicated.
Mormons believe polygamy is only acceptable on very rare occasions when God authorizes it (i.e. Abraham, Issac, Jacob, etc.). Otherwise, monogamy is the rule. (This is the message of Jacob 2:27-30 in the Book of Mormon.) Because God commanded Mormons to stop practicing polygamy in 1890, Mormons believe that modern-day polygamists are acting contrary to God's will. It is not that Mormons secretly want to practice polygamy but that the law/social norms/societal pressure prevent them. Mormons sincerely are not interested in practicing polygamy, because God has said it is no longer authorized.
Those that practice polygamy in Utah and Arizona are not Mormons. They belong to separate religions (usually FLDS).

No, Mormons do not practice polygamy. It was banned a long time ago. The Mormons (LDS) are often confused with the FDLS, which are the fundamentalists Mormons. They basically branched off the LDS and believe they are living according to their exact scripture, which is total bullcrap. The FDLS men are known to committ incest and marry their 14 year old daughters off to men over 40. They all need to be in prison for life.

some still do.. even though it is against the law. There was something about it not too long ago in the news about a man in Utah with more than a few wives. He was a church leader. Look it up. I think it was south of salt lake city.
