Why can't you put it all in a box and ask your parents to save it for you? If they won't, then surely you have a friend who will keep it for you. It would be foolish to waste that much money when you will need it again when basic is over. Good luck.

Take it with you in a decent case or box. Your TI will most likely make you pack it up with your luggage that will go into a secure room and you will not see it again until the night before you leave but at least you will know where it is, etc. And you never know, our sister flight got to wear make-up. I don't know where they found the time but they did. Our TI let us wear make up exactly twice. When we did our photo (I still looked like death warmed over) and when we graduated. He also made us put a quarter in our pocket for the car wash on the march back. Good times.

From experience, the less you take to basic the better. Girl, all the stuff we love as civilian females can be bought back when we get to Advanced Individual Training and picked up from your parents after basic. You get your stuff inspected so many darn times that it is so annoying to have to keep lugging all that stuff around. One thing I wish I did different was leaving alot of stuff behind. In basic you got barely time to wash and fix your hair so trust me girl, make up is the last thing on your mind. You don't have to give up you womanhood to be a soldier but sometimes you have to lace up your boots and toughen up and do things that are more of a need than a want. I strongly suggest you just leave valuables and things with your parents because they will only be a hassle and you can always get them later. The yelling you will get use to because you will get tht no matter what you do. And girl if you know fashion, there always will be something cute for you to purchase. Drill Sgts are only doing there job because they are just preparing you for possible deployment. If you can't go 9 weeks without civilians clothes , I don't know how you will last for 12-15 months. But trust me, leaving that stuff behind is not going to be as bad as you think.

Well, I recommend you pack your goodies in a box and stack it in a corner in the closet. You can recover your stuff when you take a leave. It is not worth the hassle to take it with you and have a drill sergeant scream at you or make fun of you in front of other recruits. Plus, you are correct, it will be taken away or you will be forced to pack it up while in training. Then again, there may be an amnesty box for you to dump your little goodies into, in which case, you will not them again. So, basically, it is your decision to make, take the pain or suffer no pain. By pain, I am talking about lots of push ups and being humiliated in front of others. I am sure, by the end of basic training, your values of little material items will have diminished.

It will get locked up with your personal belongings. TRUST me, you won't have time to put make up on!! And, if you do keep it in you wall locker, it's inspectable. How clean do you think you can keep you locker with make up in it? Seriously, EVERY girl in basic was pretty hideous to look at. But, at the end of basic, it didn't matter!! I would take some for graduation and stuff, but that's it.

you are way to concern with things that dont matter, I assume you are young I guess I understand where your coming from, big part of the Military and moving things get lost, and broken... ask your parents not to throw your things away too easy.. and your BCT pic you will look like a Soldier with no make up on in uniform .. even though AR670-1 Says females can wear make-up but of a natrual look, dont dare try to wear it during your BCT graduation or even in AIT, was just tellling my 16 yr old how females tried that when I was in BCT & Ait and what happen to them..
Maybe because I am older , and understand things are just that there are so much more important things to me than my Coach bags, Prada and clothes.
Good luck in BCT future battle...

To get technical about it, it's in AR 670-1 that make up will be worn in very small amounts to maintain a professional appearence. Leave the make up at home and from what I have been reading from other answers it sounds like to me that you shouldn't be in the military. b. Cosmetics.
(1) General. As with hairstyles, the requirement for standards regarding cosmetics is
necessary to maintain uniformity and to avoid an extreme or unmilitary appearance.
Males are prohibited from wearing cosmetics, to include nail polish. Females are
authorized to wear cosmetics with all uniforms, provided they are applied conservatively
and in good taste and complement the uniform. Leaders at all levels must exercise good
judgment in the enforcement of this policy.
(a) Females may wear cosmetics if they are conservative and complement the
uniform and their complexion. Eccentric, exaggerated, or trendy cosmetic styles
and colors, to include makeup designed to cover tattoos, are inappropriate with
the uniform and are prohibited. Permanent makeup, such as eyebrow or eyeliner,
is authorized as long as the makeup conforms to the standards outlined above.
(b) Females will not wear shades of lipstick and nail polish that distinctly contrast
with their complexion, that detract from the uniform, or that are extreme. Some
examples of extreme colors include, but are not limited to, purple, gold, blue,
black, white, bright (fire-engine) red, khaki, camouflage colors, and fluorescent
colors. Soldiers will not apply designs to nails or apply two-tone or multi-tone
colors to nails.
(2) Females will comply with the cosmetics policy while in any military uniform or while
in civilian clothes on duty.

It will be in your personal luggage locked up just off the day room. I would take it with me so you can have make up for when you get tech school if you don't get leave in between. But definitely have it for later. Enjoy!

You know 8 months of reading your questions here really makes me wonder why you are even trying to enlist in the military. They will mail all your make-up and any other crap that is not authorized right back to your mommy's house so she can throw it away with a box I guess. The military is for serious real people defending their country, not people MORE worried about their makeup and purses. We are not ugly dogs or anything, but we are focused on what is important in our life, not stupid crap like this. You will be living on a ship or out of a wall locker with no storage for all your collections so figure it out now!

Anything you don't NEED will be packed up and you will mail it home. Why do you need make up in boot camp?
You'll have plenty of shoes and purses and CUTE uniforms. You're not going off to finishing school, you're going into the MILITARY. Make up is to be worn at the MINIMUM, not like the clowns some girls I've seen look like with all that mess caked on. You won't have room for a 'wardrobe' in the barracks. Give your stuff to someone you trust. By the time you get done with boot and your first school, it will have all dried out anyway. Also, the fashions you have now will be so out of date, it will be time to buy new ones. Give it all to Good Will.
