There are only two: thou shall not kill and thou shall not steal. Anything else is just filler. Moses had two tablets and two commandments wouldn't have looked right on the slabs when he came down the mountain. I guess he could've used the extra one to beat out the burning bush.

No, no one has kept the Ten Commandments.

The first three are simply one commandment worded differently. Essentially, worship god.

The fourth is arbitrary rubbish.

The fifth is silly and vague.

The following five can be reduced to: Don't steal, Don't Lie, Don't commit murder.

I try and keep the three commandments that make sense. I don't steal and I don't kill. I'm sure I've lied occasionally. Lying is sometimes necessary, though, so perhaps we should say "don't lie unless lying will cause less harm."

# Other FACTS:

- the Book of the Dead originates at least from 2600 BCE with many versions following. They contain instructions for life after death, a sort of manual. The Hebrew version (10 commandments) originates also IN Egypt (1490 BCE Hebrew exodus from Egypt).
- the main difference is that the Hebrew version is shorter, the 42 gods are replaced by 1 god and the sabbath has been added. This version has been passed on to the Christain community totally disregarding the fact that they took a selective chapter out of the book of death.

I'm not too worried about going to hell by breaking mythological commandments.

No I haven't, but being a Christian striving to be "Christ like" in my actions I do ask for forgiveness and beliving Jesus died for my sins I trust my prayers are answered and sin removed. But I do try hard to keep the Commandments in my daily life.

"Honor thy father and mother" is the reason I started questioning Christianity in the first place. I didn't believe that there was any way a good or decent God would tell me to respect or honor people who treated me like they did.

When I went to different pastors and asked about it - even after I told them some details about what was going on - they still told me I had to honor them. F! that.

Common sense admits shades of gray. Religions offer black and white. Let's stick with TWO commandments--one from Jesus--"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"...and the other from the Wiccans--"Do ye as ye will, if ye harm none"...**NOTICE the similarities!!**

Of course not. I do not think it is possible for most humans to follow all of them all of the time. I try to love my neighbor as myself and live by the golden rule.

Which 10?

Well, no matter. No to any 10 random commandments from the Bible. Especially the ones that say I can't eat catfish or pork, or that I can't wear blended fabrics or carry different weights all in one bag.

Only the ones that are common sense like 'thou shalt not kill'. Others that aren't - like having no deities before the stated one or honor thy mother and father (not every parent deserves respect - abusive ones certainly do not) I don't bother with.
