Idn't it true that Jesus did not do violence?

Didn't he teach peace, fogiveness, and harmlessness?

Can any one deny that violence was done to Him, although he did nothing to deserve it?

Would you agree he was innocent? If every one followed his teachings, wouldn't this world be better?

Why do so mant god-less "hate mongers" mis-represent Him & those of us who believe in His teachings?

If you agree He did not deserve to be crucified, what about the taring of all Christians with the deeds of evil ones who we disavow!?!

Do we R&S believers deserve to be "crucified" verbally. here and elsewhere? What have we done to deseve such a strong back-lash??

Jesus did throw the "moneychangers" out of the temple, overturning their tables, and such. That is considered an act of violence. HOWEVER, do NOT make the assumption that ALL violence is SINFUL, it is NOT. Violence is the "action," sin is the "motivation." God is a righteous God, and as such, He has "righteous anger" towards those who sin and hurt others. But it is what is done with that anger which be sinful, or NOT. God has every right to destroy the earth, since He is the creator of it. He is the "author" of life, He has the right to take it, too.

And, again, violence is not punishment.... it is "violence." When a car speeds over a cliff, crashes, burns, and all the occupants die, this is "violence," but it is not punishment. These people didn't "deserve" what happened to them. A plane is struck by lightening, the electrical system fails (don't worry... modern jets are built with safeguards!), and the plane crashes, and all aboard are killed. Violence, yes; punishment, NO!

As for the hate-mongers, you will always have them as long as you have hate in this world. Jesus said, "Do not think that I came into this world to bring PEACE, but a SWORD." Jesus knew that His message and mission would not every be fully accepted, and that those who proclaim His Gospel would suffer for it. But the "sword" is also His word, and with that word, we can combat the hatred of this world.

Life is not fair, m'dear.... it never will be. There will always be those who suffer without "deserving" it. Heck, if we DID actually DESERVE the suffering we experience... well!!! I like to quote a character from the "old" tv series, "Babylon 5," Marcus Cole, who said, "I used to think that it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."

Have a blessed day.

I am not a Christian but I've read the New Testament and read a lot about it, and I think I can answer that.

People have some bad stuff in them. I don't believe it's 'original sin', I think it's just human nature. Greed, selfishness, self-righteousness, etc. etc.

Jesus tried to teach people to overcome those things. But they are very strong. A lot of people of faith, not just Christians but -any- faith, use their religion not to help them get over their self-centeredness but to justify and reinforce it.

I am not religious but I believe religion is mostly a good thing. But it can't be denied that it has a dark side. For millenia, from a time long before Jesus, it's been used to separate the 'in group' from the 'out group'. People have used it to justify a belief that they were better in some way for believing what the believed, deserving of special consideration or special privilege.

It has also been used to reinforce political power. In fact, before Abraham this was the primary purpose of religion, to empower the king or the political leadership. Up to just a couple centuries ago there was an almost universal belief that our leaders were picked by God, therefore to disagree with or criticize the leader would get you on God's bad side. Our American republic was founded in large part to do away with this idea, but amazingly many people still seem to want to believe it. I've had -many- Christians tell me that God got involved in Florida in 2000 to put GW Bush in the White House.

This is how you get Christians to endorse violence and genocide and things like that. It happened in the Crusades and the Inquisition. Human nature hasn't changed so much since then, nor apparently have political ethics.

Hey, I've got an experiment I'd like for you to try. Build a time machine and go back to the middle ages. Go back as a non-believer, a Jew, a black, a Muslim, a homosexual, a woman. Stand in the square of any city in Europe. Shout out loud that your deserve your place at the table of Christian beliefs. Lets see how tolerant you think your Christian brethren are really. And you have the gall to think that you, the 80% majority in America are downtrodden. You deserve your backlash because you continue to insist that you have a monopoly of morality and truth but day by day your beliefs and your Iron Age book continue to lose credibility and you lash out the only way you know how, the way your fathers taught you. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

And your element is??? This nevertheless does not negate the certainty that we've not something to help any conclusions that Jesus might have particularly existed. For all all of us comprehend, he might no longer have. for this reason far, his existence may be chalked up as no longer something greater suitable than a tale. He exchange into in all probability invented utilizing bits and products of different religious figures (including Mithras) so as that christianity might have a divine entity to worship.

Here you are:

Heb 12:1 Therefore, having so vast a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, and throwing off everything that hinders us and especially the sin that so easily entangles us, let us keep running with endurance the race set before us, looking off to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of the faith, who, in view of the joy set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.Think about the one who endured such hostility from sinners, so that you may not become tired and give up. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

Thumbs away!

Grace and peace to all.

Yes. Jesus and his men attacked the dealers in the temple. They tried to break the economical base of the High Priest because he had been instaured by the Romans.

here's a quote for you

"Never be a victim.
There are no accidents in life. What is yours comes to you, and what is not yours will never stay with you. You have exactly the circumstances you need to transform to your next level.
Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react.
With this thought in mind, look at the "problems" in your life and find the concealed good. How is this "negative" person or situation giving you an opportunity to think, act, and be better?"

just know that it's not only believers that get "crucified" verbally... they do it to others also

Jesus has a Righteous Anger! He overturned the tables in the Temple. He called People Vipers and White Washed Tombs with Dead Man's Bones inside them. Revelation says that when Jesus returns, His garments will be dripping with blood! He said that He did not come to bring peace, but a sword. You better read your Bible to become better aquainted with Him and understand why the World hates Him and all those who are His.

He did say some hard-to-take things on occasions, but was not violent in his life on Earth. He gave some very strong warnings about consequences of bad life choices and often spoke his mind, greatly offending some proud people, especially the political and religious elites. Of course He also healed thousands of badly afflicted people, and taught his message, and in being sacrificed on the cross, acted in the belief that he was providing atonement for our sins, ie in a highly loving way.

The only violent incident I know of was the 'cleansing of the Temple' when he upturned the tables of the moneylenders and drove them away.

Well calling us Godless hatemongers would be a pretty good reason to verbally crucify you. I happen to have more than one God so I,m not Godless at all. I personally have no problem with Jesus and his teachings. Problem is if you are following th Christian bible then you aren't following his teachings. You are following Paul/Saul's lies about Jesus. Maybe you should do a little research before you attempt to Crucify all of us what did you call us oh yeah Hate- Mongers.
Bright Blessings
