I'm on parole in CA and have been repeatedly harassed by police in my neighborhood. I was pulled over for coming to an "abrupt stop" a few weeks ago. I was about 4 houses away from my house when I was stopped. They searched me and my car, found nothing, and then decided to walk down the street to do a parole search at my house.
Today I was pulled over for absolutely no reason and wasn't even offered one. They searched my car asked some questions and let me go. Is this kind of harassment really acceptable just because I'm on parole? Does anyone know where I can find some fact so I can know my rights a little better?

You state you are on parole that makes you a criminal and probably known to the police who have a duty to protect the public from people like you, if you stay within the law the police will not bother you

That's bogus. Paroles do have rights and police cant harass you or do illegal searches. They have to have a suspicion that you are doing something illegal. I wold begin writing down names, dates and times when you have this occur. When you see you parole officer, tell them about it and they should look into for you. If not, I would talk to a lawyer and provide them the same information. You can talk to any lawyers and they should tell you what police can and cant do to you while on parole. You might be able to have it stopped and file a suit against the police dept for illegal searches and traffic stops.

good Luck

your parole officer may do a search and pop up at your house anytime. as for police officers, you are still a citizen in this country and ur rights are still there. But maybe due to past known history or whatever may be going on that day, you'd be subject to what you call harrassment.

SOMEONE KNOWS YOU FROM THE PAST? I DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU DID AND DO NOT CARE. YOU ARE ON PAROLE AND YOU DO HAVE TH SAME RIGHT AS THOSE AFFORDED ANY OTHER CITZEN. GO TO:
www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/calawquery/?codesection=cep&codesection=penal&codebody=Parole&Hits=20.
there you will find penal codes for parole release etc conditions under release etc.
