My wife and I bandied this very same question around on three separate occasions. A compromise was finally reached all three times, unaccountably in favor of her choices except for my youngest daughter. I would think it a bit strange if you didn't agonize over your child's name. Shouldn't be an easy choice as I look at it. Whatever name you choose will turn out to be the right one. Good luck.

I had my names picked out years ahead. We just went down the list. I was a teacher for many years, and from the names of my students, either parents put no brain/thought to it at all, or they thought way too much and should have stuck to some old favorites! All the best to you and your baby! Choose a name your child will be happy with all her life.

This is what we did for both our children. Took a list of names we both enjoyed (first and middle) as well as our two name books with us to the hospital. While in labor we strolled through all our top names again to see if any we no gos or looked really appealing. Then skimmed through our books one last time to see if anything jumped out at us now that the process was almost done! My daughter didn't get named till late the next day, while my son was waiting for a decision between two (they both looked like he could wear them well) that took only the rest of that day! Don't be discouraged, sometimes you need to wait to see what name the baby looks like would fit him/her!

A lot of people think it's very difficult. My husband and I had names picked out well before we even thought of getting pregnant.

It CAN be. A name is somethign your child will carry with them their entire lives. Naturally you feel some stess over it. I KNEW what my second child woudl be named because it was a boy and I always knew what my sons name would be. But for my girls?...WOW thought we would NEVER choose!

No, it's not just you. It's very hard! You have to make sure you like and you have to also make sure it's something that's not easy for kids to make fun with when they go to school.
