I'm dieting and I'm trying to find a good balance with my calories. I usually have the most calories for dinner, because by that time I'm starving, but is that healthy?

Definately breakfast. Not only does it help jump start your metabolism and give you energy, it helps control hunger for the rest of the day. Try a 300-500 calorie breakfast.

Lunch should be second largest, and dinner should be smallest.

No, because you are winding down, burning less calories and about to go to bed...where any excess calories will be stored as FAT. However, if you do a work out before dinner, then it is healthy b/c you need to replenish your muscles, so you have earned that meal.
Otherwise, eat your biggest meal at breakfast. You have ALL Day to burn those calories. Just make sure it's a healthy one, and it gives you energy.

I would say breakfast. By dinner, like you said, you're starving! + morning should be your strongest meal. Followed by your mid day meal. With dinner being the lightest. Since you're gonna be sleeping on it. I commend you for counting calories. It has awakened me to the junk we stuff in our bodies. + I dont agree with the 2000 calories/day, which is supposed to be considered the norm. I wouldnt lose anything on that kind of count. I've been doing 1000/per day, for a month now. I've seen some wonderful results!
Just my opinion.
Good Luck toya, on whatever you decide!

it's best to have a big breakfast..because that helps start up/boost up your metabolism for the day. studies have shown that most people who are overweight have a light breakfast or no breakfast at all and that more people who are healthy have a well-balanced breakfast. :)

Without a doubt ( I will not say breakfast) I will say, your first meal of your day and it should be soon after you awake to start your day.
