I imagine that many might get on this forum to simply flame and cause problems.
However, your question does beg some answers - to several questions.
As a Vietnam veteran, I was particularly offended by that one 'church' (and I put the word church in parenthesis as I am not convinced they deserve recognition as a legitimate church) that was involved (and finally sued by a family) in protesting at military funerals, claiming that this was all caused by our country putting up with gays. Whatever their beliefs, they had no business in protesting at military funerals.
I was also rather confused by many Christians calling the Mormon religion not a true religion. I believe the founder of the Mormon church was murdered by a so-called 'Christian', but I might be wrong. I've no time to google that up.
I also became a bit .... well, even more confused, when no less than the Holy See suggested that all other Christian churches were in at least some sort of 'fracture' with the true church (the Catholic church).
Given that many Christians demand certain actions within their communities (and most are good ideas - who needs child abuse?), I see some similarities between the conservative Christians and conservative Muslims (some of whom we call terrorists - I consider them terrorists). They, too, are imposing, or trying to impose, their theological beliefs upon others - even the whole world.
Believe me, I am not attempting to flame anyone; I would hope that you might understand how the varying religious beliefs just might cause some angst amongs other folks of other denominations or faiths, not to mention aethiests or agnostics.
Best regards,
Jim

You read far too much into what atheists have said. Here, theists are just another joke. It is in the outside world that christians try to impose their beliefs on every living thing.

Great quest-ion fruitcake! The materialist, the atheist, should cut that out. The truth nevers suffers honest examination and when what you believe is solid, then there should be no whining or any problem when faced with opposed views. I'm interested in their answers. But we all know they are entitled to believe how they wish - even if it isn't what we think is the greatest thing to believe.

If you truly are scientific atheist logic dictates to not answer babble does it not. My theory is you all have questions about your belief system as it seems so empty! I know of very few Christians that impose their will on anyone! We do share our faith you either accept or reject, the judging is done by Christ we are trying our best to represent him the best we can! We all fall short. When you love somthing as we do you talk about it,I do! If i have offended anyone the offense is in his word,Ithe Bible calls that conviction. In Christs Name!

I don't say that.
But if I did it would be like this.
This is a forum, where anyone can discuss things. That means taking an objective view, and discussing the matter at hand. Not you (or anyone) telling me (or anyone) what I should believe, in your opinion. That is you imposing your beliefs on me personally.

actually i have seen alot of questions that were honest and those are the ones i respect. if someone is just here to be pushy, that is an altogether different thing. i have no problem with christians, i do have a bit of a problem with fundamentalists of any religion because i believe that is a dangerous way of thinking. just remember that i am entitled to my opinion on these things too. by the way you are a cute little fruitcake=)

im not a religious person but i don't consider myself an Atheist.
Why doesn't everyone stop trying to impose their beliefs on other people period?
Live your own life and stop trying to convince people of your beliefs. Who cares if someone is atheist? Who cares if someone is christian? Let them believe what they want and just worry about yourself.

ooops The 'Christian Forum' argument.
Failed.
F-
See me after school.
To answer the other part of your Q. Why am I here?
I deal with the religious 'issue'. It affects my life. It affects the world we live in. A lot.
Politics and religion affect us all. Try being a Christian in a Muslim country, or a Muslim in a Christian country, or an atheist in a Christian or Muslim country.

Who says what?
Got any evidence to back up these mighty claims?
Atheists don't like having beliefs imposed on them in the public sphere. For example, on our currency, our schools, our courtrooms, our science labs, our bodies etc.
There's a difference between having an opinion and trying to legislate that opinion. Learn it.
After all, I've never had atheists knocking on my door asking me to accept reason...

I never said that. I come here as a means to remind me why I do the things I do; why I am the black sheep of my family, and why I resist the temptation to at least fake like I believe so as to co-exist much easier.
I come here, fully, with the understanding that I am going to see a gushing, wild, river of ignorant thought and every once and a while I try to snag one of you in a moment of doubt and try and help you continue to ask questions. That is my reward, to pose an interesting point and see the one or two people who don't mock, taunt, or ignore me come to some sort of realization.
