Maybe the sun will rise every morning and set in the evening.
It may rain some days.

What Christians believe: Christ has already risen, he is coming back. And scriptural speaking there are prophecies that need to take place before this happens. Read in Revelation Chapter six and seven if you are interested.
What I believe on the war:
The funny thing is, we aren't really even in a war, it's more a occupation of Iraq. And no, it will not end, because although we will elect a new president they will not sworn in during 2008 and there is no way Bush is going to do anything different then what he has done for the past 8 years.
Plus the war we declared is on a ideal not a real person place or thing and therefore I don't think it will ever end! Hoe do you win if what you are fighting is something in a persons mind? With the death of Prime Minister of Pakistan I believe this issue is only going to get worse. The real question is, will be be involved as a nation?
As far as what I think will happen in the next year: Although we are facing a election year and that means typically our economy gets better, we have had too much damage done already. I believe we are headed into a major economic recession (let's face it we are already there!) that will effect the global economy causing Canadian imports to be too high, inflation in the Euro, and Chinese factories to stop producing as much and potential problems as this is the back bone of their economy.
It's not all doom and gloom though! It will take a while before we as Americans get we are in a recession so it should be slow moving, and Jimmy Carter's name will be cleared as worst present in American history becausse now Bush is coming in frist!

I don't have any predictions but one can guess from various developments what might well happen:
Iraq will quieten down (relatively, due to exhaustion of the various groups.)
The Islamist extremists will focus on the Israel issue again.
There will (sadly) be some natural disasters.
There will be probably be some terrorist atrocities.
Friction between Russia and US and European countries will increase.
Possibly some friction between Japan and China.
US foreign policy will change.
European Union will become a little more effective.
Hopefully many of us will grow as people; learn new things etc
The gospel will have breakthroughs in lands where it has badly inhibitted in the past.

I believe the fight against global warming will heat up (NO PUN) and 2008 will be a critical year for the world's economy.
The assassination in Pakastan might lead to more trouble in the new year. If Bin Laden is really hiding out in that country, turmoil may prevent his capture.
I be;ieve a civil war might break out, or at least the suspension of civil liberties, to prevent civil war, in Pakastan, a huge populous Islamic nation with "weapons of mass destruction" (said to be 60 missles armed with nuclear weapons)!!!.
The presidnetail election will be turned into chaos!!! Democracy itself is in trouble in the new year. The UN will have to get involved!

The war will probably not end. There will be more crime due to inflation. Lot more people will be depressed or using some kind of "feel good" drug thanks to all the commercials on tv for them. And generally unless we find a way to keep our faith all these things can get to us. But ultimately life has ups and downs. Things will get worse before they get better.

I don't know if the war will ever end. I don't forsee it ending this year but I hope I'm wrong.
As far as Jesus returning in 2008, no, I don't believe so because we haven't gone through the "great tribulation" yet. That must come first.
