Neither (Seriously).....Hi Point handguns are 100% USDA "JUNK"... Poorly made from poor quality base metals. Hi Point is the "cheapest" production firearm made today.Save your money and buy a decent functional handgun .......

That's a hard call! I own both and am pleased with the performance of each. The foremost benefit of the 40 S&W is the knock down power it produces. The 9mm is smaller size wise though and easyer to carry. It all depends on what you are needing in a hand gun!!

if you are asking about the caliber and not the gun itself, it would be the .40s&w round. It has a little better ballistics and better record of one-shot stops. But the bottom line is what round can YOU fire accurately. If you can hit where you want to with a .22, thats better than missing with a whole box of .45's

To many people care more about the look and shape. Too many ignorant posts without Actually testing. They are heavy and not the prettyist at the ball, but they ARE reliable and accurate. 1000's of rounds through and no problems. The .40 is my favorite.

Forget about them both and buy a 357 Magnum or 45 acp made by Smith & Wesson or Colt. Combat Commander.* Buy a used one and save $$$$.* A new handgun doesn't shoot any better than a good used one.*

Save up the extra money and buy something work buying. Taurus are inexpensive and so is Ruger but are 100 times better than hi-point. My air rifle is better than hi-point.

It depends on how much damage you're trying to do and what you're going to use it for. I have a 45 and I love it. 9s have no stopping power but they also have almost no kick. Just know that the higher the caliber the louder it gets.
