I was searching through a forest for some food for my dad and I found a tree that was alive and intelligent. I told him what I was doing and he took me into a round, stone temple with dirt floors. He said if he cast some soil into a pool in the middle of the room, that it would turn to bread. He was preparing to do it when some travelers came in. He then stood still and pretended not to be alive while they were there.... I woke up

You found a special connection or a unique situation and a special location or environment to help you prosper or improve on your situation, and thus, be able to help your dad or people close to you. Somethings happening in your life are unique and special in some way. Meditate/prayer that good fortune as shown in the dream does happen or if it is already happening that it will continue. Also that others don't come and spoil things, by taking the life out of the situation, similar to the end of the dream.

I'd interpret that as searching for a way to feed your authoratative/masculine side (unless dad represents somethong different to you) within the world. The tree seems to be a guide who leads you into the temple (or yourself) for answers. The water, which seems to be your subconscious mind, can only show you the truth if you dirty it. In other words, there is a sacrifice to be made, some clarity to be given up, if you are to make the bread which will help you nurture "dad". You let the outside world in again though while your guide was speaking, and started looking for the travelers to bring you bread instead. This caused your guide to be silent as you returned to the world.
I imagine you'll find yourself there again. When you do, you have the option of following either of them (the world or the guide) without a certainity that either is really looking out for your best interests. You can also choose to remain still, to make no sacrifice and look for nothing. No choice is better than any other choice; the one you take will be your path, and it will be okay.
happy journeys :)

Very shamanic...

Perhaps the tree is giving you advice? You are seeking sustenance for authority. The tree took what would be nourishment to "it" and explained it would become nourishment for you. It wasn't nourishing the travelers.

Are you making sure you care for your needs first? You can provide far more assistance if you keep yourself healthy first, and THEN help those who enter your path.

Note that dream symbolism is personal. Take what resonates, and disregard the rest.

Have you been reading the Bible? Your dream seems to have inputs from Genesis and the New Testament(Jesus, the miracle worker, who also says: "I am the bread of life").

You also seem to think or wish that your relationship with God is private, not to be shared with others.
