Two schools of thought on screens. Generally, the plasma screens give a better picture and show a higher resolution of color and pix. However, if you have a tendency to use a channel that has rolling screen ticker, such as CNN or ESPN, The image can be burned into it, expecially if the TV is left on the same channel for hours at a time. Happened at two or our locations in the last year as we monitor news broadcast and weather

I buy the TV's for my work and the different locations. We bought a few plasma screens intially and now only buy LCD's. The quality of the screens and the picture are just great. Look at getting one with the 1080 DLP. They cost a little more, but the pictures are superb.

I also recommend that you go to one of the electronic stores or Sams, Sears, etc and write down the make and model of the ones you like. Then when you get home, look up Epinions.com for the make and model of that TV that someone else has bought and has reviewed. Plus, this will give an what the prices this same make and mode are selling for around the country

I can tell you that plasmas will not last as long (though they last a long time) as LCD and LCD sets can have dead pixels (most warranties allow for quite a few before the set is considered flawed) right outta the box and get more as time goes on (it sounds worse than it really is).
I prefer LCD over plasmas.

Since crushed pixels on either can render them useless, they both are equally as easy to damage. Moving companys use special boxing and packaging to pack both because of their delicate nature. And neither can be cleaned with your everyday cleaners. So your choice of a screen is up to your needs, tastes and budget but handle either with care.
