My mom, and her bf, went away for about 8 days, and left there cat Simba, in a maintence bathroom, with food and water. Nobody, came to look after him. I feel bad for Simba. Is this considered abuse, or neglect?

Eight days seems to be a long time to not have a litter box cleaned out, or water changed.......I guess I would lean on the side of neglect. You could have offered to check in on him......did you have a chance?

Yes. It is neglect to leave an animal at home for a long time, even with food and water. talk to your mom and her boyfriend, and make sure that this does not happen to Simba again.

Hello Spoiled,
I think that this is not abuse but neglect if it had no food and water it would be terrible but they are still providing the nessecities, however I would NEVER ever do that as it is not a way to treat an animal, I always think of it like this put yourself in the situation.
Dont let them do that again, please.
If you have any other questions feel free to email me at anytime.
Kindest regards.
Amanda.

It's not abuse and I don't think that authorities would call it neglect since he was left food and water. Most of us would call it both, I believe, It appears that your mom does not have the cats interest and care listed as a top priority. Make sure that next times she leaves, remind her to have someone come in a take proper care of her cat. I hope it was a clean area with adequate heat

It is not technically abuse, but it is neglect. Say that the cat had a piece of food lodged in its throut. no one would have noticed untill it was way too late. Next time just offer to look in on the cat. And put at least 2 litter boxes. would you want to go in the same toilet for 8 days without flushing? i think not- lol

It's not. The cat was fine. He was not harmed. I mean cats are independent and he had food and water. Cats are abused and neglected way more than that. At least he has food and shelter and someone to love him. Other cats are not as lucky.

Well I can see going away for a couple days and leaving extra food and water but not over a week.
So yes i see it as a very mild form of niglect.(like VERY mild)
Also that cat was living in a limited area for over a week so ya i feel sorry for him too.
If my family and i go away for 2 days or so then we'll leave her home with a ton of food and a large bowl of water, but any longer and we take her to the "Cat Hotel". haha she loves how she can climb on the cat tree things there
i highley doubt the ASPCA will think anything of it

Yes, beucause i left my dogs alone for 1 week. 4 cats 2 dogs and I had someone come and look after them. I would say it's a minor case of neglect and abuse!

Its not abuse, it is more like neglect. Your parents came back though so it wasn't entirely neglect, but it wasn't the best situation for the poor cat.

I think it was a form of abuse. I sometimes go away for a couple of days and leave out extra food and water for my cats but if I'm going to be gone longer, I send them to a cattery to be boarded. Cats may be basically solitary creatures but they do get lonely.
