This depends on the company's hiring procedures. So companies will require that you give permission to conduct a background check. With that they will verify all employment listed, criminal records in the areas where you lived, your degrees and possibly transcript and references that you have listed.

If you don't give permission they will disregard your eligibility because clearly you have something to hide. If you have a few grades on your transcript that aren't the greatest, then you should simply explain why that grade was received, e.g. you had a rough semester due to personal issues, etc. However if you barely graduated then you may have something to worry about.

Depends on the employer.

Some of the most careful companies will check your diploma, your transcripts, your credit report, your references, run a background check, and make you take a drug test. Be prepared to submit to all that if you want a really good job at a big name company.

I think you do have to give permission for them to check all these things. Probably depends on the state you live in. If you refuse, they will throw out your application and you will not get a job with that company.

Not really.

If you put it on your resume (which is now old-fashioned), you are giving the employee an opportunity to check on it. I won't put it unless it's a 4.0.

The closest I came to grade and job searching is when I got asked during an interview. But they didn't check it, cause I lied.

No, but if your GPA is above 3.5 you should put it on your resume.

Some employers, like the one who just hired me to work at a hospital, asked me to send my transcripts as well.

I'd be interested in learning how an employer gets access to a minor's school records.

No.

And if they tried, they could not get the info without your permission.
