I'm one of the people that does not really go for the "over done" HDR look.

it is interesting to see, but i tend to err on the side of conservative in these types of matters. get a broader dynamic range for me is good, but going this far is too cartoonish.

Although, if that is the effect you are looking for, then bravo to that as well.

I guess it's all perspective. I'm currently experimenting with HDR myself....I just hate using the curves type interface in Photoshop. I really need to practice this technique to fully utilize it and get great results.

Depends on what you mean by good.

He got the HDR aspect down well, but the image lacks a dimensionality that could have been achieved with some work on balancing the color and selectively applying local constrast enhancement.

To me it looks like an image where the photographer basically stopped with a technical execution because his vision didn't go any further.

That is the central Nave of the Duomo Cathederal (as I remember it), Milan and it has a very dimensional feel to it that is not carried out in the image. It feels and looks 2D. Nice technical work, but not carried very far artistically.

Oh wow. It's almost like looking at a large screen HD movie (say, Harry Potter 5th that I just watched the other day).

Thank you for sharing it with us.
