Leash Training?

Question

I want to leash train a 11 1/2 month old Rottweiler how to heal and walk on a leash. He is also very excited when on a leash. I really don't think it's very easy to get him on a leash? How would you leash train him?

I work/teach at a dog school for puppies. KK's Puppy Training so I can do that but I need to know what to buy. I don't even know what they have at Kk's but I know how to use them what to do with them. I'm also a vet intern.

What business do you have TEACHING at a "puppy school" if you cannot train your own dog?

I apologize for being so harsh, but I also work for a K9 obedience academy that is known in our area for rehabilitating aggressive dogs. We are often a last resort for many people because they have taken their problem dogs to people who claim to be trainers, who only made the problem worse.

You seem to want to do good, but you need some more education. You are to my business, what backyard breeders are to rescue groups .... part of the problem.

first of all u should leash train as early as possible,basics as sit stay,etc....... BUT for his age use a choke chain and use constant commands,say sit he sit or give jerk on leash.praise as needed some ppl like 2 use treats i dont!!!!!!2 put on leash teach 2 sit if he acts use NO sharply,sit then push rear end down at same time!good luck!!!!!!

a choke collar or prong collar makes it harder for a dog to pull. they help a lot when starting to train a headstrong dog. Maybe you could find a puppy class...this helps with the socializing your dog as well as introducing him to the basic concepts such as stay come and heel.
