Do you feel that a good American lets his/her government make all the decisions, or, is the nature of a good American one of dissent and distrust?

Good answers, so far. I just wonder if anyone has teeth, so to speak. I ask this because I'd like to DO something constructive, even if it's very small, about the appalling state of our union. Any ideas? Just so you know, I'm anti Bush. I'll vote for a ham sandwich for pres at this point!

Dissent and distrust is the message our Founders gave us.

Americans have a constitutional right to criticize decisions made by local, state, and federal officials if they feel they reflect poor judgment , or are offensive, or are otherwise counterproductive.

A good citizen is a citizen who is informed and prepared to speak out in favor of or against government policies and practices, as the case may be, and to vote accordingly.

Same question I have been asking. I'm appalled at the "state of our union" as you so aptly put it. I say make a few waves how else can you surf above the B.S. and possibly make a difference. e mail me if you like and throw some ideas my way if enough of us do maybe we can accomplish something.

Make waves. That is part of how the bills about the Amnesty for Illegals was dropped and failed. The people of the country stood up and acted. Sitting still allows the politicians to take more rights away, more freely.

You must question everything our Government and Elected Officials do. I am voting for Dr. Ron Paul. He is a great leader for the US.

Dissent is good, but it is wise to be selective. Pick your issues.
