Bragg was 1st one out when I was last stationed there in the 80's,

We were on the second lift. Learned to hate Green Ramp in those days.

I would recommend Fort Bragg as the number one post for rapid deployment. Within 18 hours, you can be anywhere on the globe.

It is home to the "All Americans" along with other special units. Most people assigned to that post are at least double volunteers if not triple volunteers.

You do not hear much about rapid deployment at the current moment because of the ongoing war on terror and the rotation of units to several hot spots. However, there is still a need and mission for units to be on standby as a strategic reserve just in case something else pops up on the radar.

Bragg, Stewart, and Campbell were the main ones.

At times... Drum, Lewis, Benning, Schoefled Barracks and the bases in Alaska were also rotated in. Basically, the light units with the one exception of Stewart since they were the heavy back up for the light units.

But like I said in your other question, everyone is on rotation so it doesn't really matter anymore, expecially with the Army transforming to modular combat brigades.
