I'm getting a new cat tommorow and she lived with my grandma and grandpa. How can I help her adjust? She will be living with me, my mom, my little brother (6) and 2 dogs. Affenpinscher and Rottweiler. She doesn't like dogs and she's used to living with another cat/kitten.

One step at a time, get her used to your room, then the house, and gradually the dogs. Good luck.

If you can, put her in a room with her food and a litter box that can be closed off from the rest of the household. Let her get used to the sounds and smells and the rhythm of your house.

After a few days, when you can handle her easily, introduce her to each of the dogs. They should be restrained and her paws should be held so no one gets hurt.

Then just leave the door to her room ajar and let her come and go as she wishes. Once she has integrated with the family you can move the litter pan and food to its permanent location and show her where each is.

I have two kittens, and one stayed at a friends for one night and both were really miserable, they didnt eat or play, jus hid and slept.

She will be ok with your family, just make sure she knows where her litter and food is, and make her routine match ur grans as much as possible. Play with her alot! If there are any toys shes attatched to then bring them for her, and maybe you should bring the other cat over for a while aswell.

Make sure you are always around, cats hate being alone, if she demands attention, give it. Talk to her when shes around.

As for the dogs, make sure they are ok with her, then sit with your cat and let the dogs be in the room. Dont leave your cat alone with them.

She will be ok, over time, congradulations! cats are adorable!

Hope this helps,
take care
