My daughter recently had four extracted under general anaesthetic and took a week off. The swelling and/or bruising appears after two days and you might want to delay your return until after they subside. She also found rinsing with saline and Corsodyl helpful and lots of Nurofen.

Well the locale in which the tooth will be removed from will be numbed by the dentist. He will administer a local anesthetic which will immediately numb the area. If its more than one tooth, he will likely put you to sleep. So during the surgery it shouldn't hurt at all, it'll just feel like something is being pulled out, but there will be virtually no pain. Its after the surgery and the recovery that is probably the most annoying thing. Your teeth will become very vulnerable after the surgery. There is a high risk of infection including a tooth abscess if you don't follow the orders in which the Dentist gives you after the removal of the teeth. However most people recover fine. There will be a lot of bleeding after the surgery but this is normal. The swelling will typically last from 1 - 5 days depending on the number of teeth that were removed. Everyone is different but it typically lasts a week. Overall, you should not be scared. There are worst things in life to be a scared of and trust me, you'd rather want a wisdom teeth removal, lol. You'll be fine!

Everyone is different how they will react to wisdom teeth extractions. You can tell by the answers you have gotten so fat, that the time for bouncing back varies greatly. A lot depends on how difficult the extractions are, skill of the surgeon, how well you heal, attitude and age. My own sons each had 4 horizontally impacted wisdom teeth. One was out of it and on Tylenol 3 for a week, while the other one was eating a Big Mac after a day and a half! Good luck to you, and just follow all their instructions re ice packs, heat packs, rinsing, etc..

I would recommend taking off until Wednesday. Sometimes the surgery can be quite extensive and it's better to have more time to recover then not enough right? You'll be fine with the surgery. They start an IV and all the medication goes in through there. You wake up comfortable and forget everything. Best of luck!!

I only had one out and I was fine five minutes later. If you're having six out though you could probably blag two or three days out of it.
