No,

The vehicle must be road legal otherwise it will need to go onto a trailer so the cars wheels are off the ground.

Also can i suggest that you make sure the person towing passed there licence in the last 10 years before jan 1997

The catoregy to tow a vehicle is Its not automatically given to people who passed after the above date and they may not be licensed to tow.

You now have to sit a separate test.

Tucksie is bonkers. Why on earth would you need trade plates? Do only traders tow cars? I don't think so.

Anyway, the answer is NO it is not legal. The towed vehicle would still need Road Fund Licence displayed as it is still using a public highway.

Yes, the vehicle you are towing becomes classed as a trailer and providing you have the correctly licenced driver and insurance cover you should be OK.

Only if you're towing it with a proper recovery vehicle - otherwise it must be taxed, tested and insured to even be on the road.

In the UK the car being towed must be "road legal", because it's still on the road. If not, it must be trailered or carried on a truck.

Not unless it is fitted with Trade Plates when being towed. It must also be towed with a rigid bar not a rope.

I know someone who had to do this and they telephoned the police station in advance and got special permission. This was a few years ago. But I'm sure your friendly local cop shop would help. As long as its being towed somewhere of use ie; MOT centre, garage, etc

Yes, you can tow a vehicle legally if it is being towed with the proper towing equipment. The towing vehicle's insurance covers the vehicle being towed because it is not moving on its own power.
