Hi. The 4 ohm speaker can be driven with most amplifiers safely. Down at 2 ohms the amp passes more current. Not always good for the amp unless designed right.

The 2 ohm speakers require less (1/2) the driving voltage for the same power output as the 4 ohm. This is important in an automotive power amplifier.

The amount of resistance.
The higher the number,=the higher the resistance= the stronger the magnetic amplification field=the louder the speaker can play.
