Who wrote the brief poem, "Ode to My Cat" - the entire poem reads "Meow".?

I've googled it every way I can think of, with no success. But boy, there are a lot of cat odes out there! lol

Andy, the poem to which I refer has but one word: "Meow". That's the whole poem.

You might be thinking of the work by Christopher Smart.

He was a brilliant British poet that developed religious mania and was put into an asylum for a number of years. His poem Jubilate Agno includes a section that begins "For I Will Consider My Cat Jeoffry" that is loved by those that adore cats. One of the passages reads:

For if he meets another cat he will kiss her in kindness.
For when he takes his prey he plays with it to give it a chance.
For one mouse in seven escapes by his dallying.
For when his day's work is done his business more properly begins.
For he keeps the Lord's watch in the night against the adversary.

For a cat of his times, Jeoffry lived a rather long life. Including some of that with Smart at the asylum. Jeoffry is buried in a small little village northwest of London. He even has a headstone. It simply reads "Here lies Jeoffry. A poet's cat."
