Guys, what are the characteristics of the Girl Next Door (type)? And how do you feel about her? Is she the girl you're *willing* to date, but *want* another type?

PS--I understand that ppl. aren't quite so neatly confined to "types" and such. But when taken generally, these terms can serve as shorthand for descring similarities among people we know.

In my mind, the girl next door is the first one I'd think about marrying. I like the looks of almost types, but there's a pretty small subset of women who can generate long-term interest. It's probably easier to say what the girl next door is NOT.

1. She isn't too vain. She doesn't try to look perfect all the time.
2. She isn't a slob. She doesn't have more sweatpants than dresses.
3. She isn't an idiot. Doesn't spend all of her time watching E! and reading Cosmo and Johanna Lindsey. She's heard of John Locke, but probably hasn't actually read him.
4. She's spiritual but not crazy. She reads her Bible and is active in her church, but she doesn't go around saying, "Halelujah! Praise Jesus!" at every opportunity. She's heard of Ignatius, Augustine, and Aquinas. She knows the difference between Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, and she knows why she's a Christian. (Or Jewish, I suppose. I'd be OK with either one.)
5. She's not a hyper feminist. She knows the difference between men and women and recognizes their different strengths and weaknesses.
6. She can take care of herself. Although it's not what she wants, she is perfectly capable of making her own way in the world.
7. She isn't self-centered. She does what she can to help other people. She doesn't think that everything other people do is all about her.
8. She isn't a psycho. She's not bi-polar, manic anything, or on any kind of psychiatric meds.
9. She isn't fat or super-athletic, either. She doesn't lay around watching tv all day, but she doesn't spend every waking minute cycling, running, and lifting, either. Obesity is disgusting, but a little softness can be very nice.

In short, she's very nearly perfect.

provided that they are introverted and insecure. in any different case, they could prefer to play the sector and the extra unique the probabilities, the extra thrilling. omit "little around the corner" is uninteresting.
