I have seen several questions and answers on here that say we don't like science or agree with it. I am a Christian and I love science. There are a lot of christians that are scientists, doctors, nurses or have other jobs that relate to science. We don't believe that we came from monkeys but science hasn't proven that we did.

What I meant by Christians not believing we came from monkeys is that we Christians believe that we was created by God and in His image. I do believe in some evoultion. I believe in natural adaption. I believe God created the earth. God is the creator of science. Yes we may have the same DNA as gorillas or other animals but we didn't evolve from them. God created them too.

If you're a Christian, you have an issue with science. After reading your last sentence it's pretty obvious that you really don't know the definition of science. I'll try to explain if you are still reading. Science always starts with a question. Faith always starts with an answer. Science observes and collects facts and then formulates an hypothesis. An hypothesis is a tentative insight into the natural world; a concept that is not yet verified but that if true would explain certain facts or phenomena. Faith is still sitting with the answer, faith doesn't inspire questions or direct any research. Why should it, faith is the answer. Finally, science posits a theory. A theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena. Theories can incorporate facts and laws and tested hypotheses. Just so there won't be any confusion about the word "theory" you should know that a scientific theory is an established and experimentally verified fact or collection of facts about the world. Unlike the everyday use of the word theory, it is not an unproved idea, or just some theoretical speculation. Americans seem to be especially confused about the definition of word theory when used in a scientific parlance. Theories can have different levels from a few facts supporting to more well established theories like evolution, electricity, the laws of motion and so on. The most important thing is to understand the scientific method. If you understand that, I think you will begin to understand why faith and science are incompatible. Science never settles on an answer, it always leaves the door open as new information becomes available. That's because in science everything is falsifiable. A theory tested is a good theory and one that stands up to rigorous testing becomes established theory. A theories' credibility is improved if it leads to the development of other theories and ultimately to a general advance in scientific knowledge.
So lets look at your last sentence. This may surprise you but I don't think that we came from monkeys either. Monkeys and humans had a common ancestor millions of years ago and yes, science has shown that there is no doubt that biological evolution actually happened, it is a fact. There is debate about some mechanisms but on a broad scale evolution happened and is a fact. There are very few scientists that doubt evolution, probably less than 1% of all scientists. The great thing is that if they discover some insight that would invalidate evolution, there would a method for them to propose their hypothesis and have it reviewed. The current crop a creation "scientists" won't publish not because they won't get a fair hearing, it's because they don't have anything. That brings us back faith. They keep hoping that evolution is incorrect but have no evidence. Science keeps looking, always skeptical and never satisfied.

Don't you just love the trolls!

Why waist time on the non believers who are brainwashed narrow minded closed minded Archie Bunkers.

Just remember a Catholic Priest gave the world the Big Bang Theory

A Catholic Abbott is the Father of Modern Genetics

And a Baptist Preacher who is also a palientologist put forth the first concepts the some dinosaurs were warm blooded.

Albert Einstein who went on record in print saying he was NOT AN ATHEIST gave us relativity.

The American Clergy gave us free public education starting in 1660

The American Clergy founded the first University in America, Harvard, then all the rest.

To this day Atheist wannabees who are mostly trolls are astounded to learn USC is Methodist school.

All these people love their football games!

And leaders in football always include Notre Dame, USC, Abeline Christian University, SMU among others.

Darwin never claimed that we came from monkeys. Why do so many Christians have trouble getting that through their thick skulls. He said that we and the chimpanzees evolved from a common ancestor. There's a huge difference.

Place your bible gently on your desk, for a few days, and pick up a few other books for a change.

You are simply seeing one avenue, an expression, there are many more...Wherein non-Christians by their nature despise or hate Christians.

A Christian really is not of this world...indeed foreign as our roots reach to heaven, loving the things of heaven and not of this world.

God loves science. He created science!

when christianity was at its zenith of power in europe during the 'age of the saints' (ca. 800 - 1100 ad) it systematically eradicated literacy except as a church monopoly and ERASED scientific tex-books from the classical world to re-use their materials for prayerbooks.

christianity was an unmitigated disaster for the history of science. science appeared in the western world again only when atheism once more became respectable at the onset of the renaissance.

this is not to say that no christian was ever a scientist. some christians have been so hypocritical or simply confused to make valuable contributions to science in spite of their faith.

but the attitude of christianity to science is simply expressed:

'if a truth is important to salvation, it is already in the bible. any truth which is not already in the bible may be ignored, or - even better - suppressed.'

Since the Inquisition and Galileo was excommunicated,
Christianity has been reluctant to accept science.

Evolution does not disprove the existence of God nor reduce the importance of the Bible, but it sure scares a lot of people.

BTW: Humans are most closely related to apes (like gorillas with no tails) than monkeys (with tails). DNA never lies.

because religion is always looking in the rearview mirror at how society used to be. Organised religion has always been against anything that doesn't support the beliefs they are propogandising. All you need to do is look at the history of apologies they have had to make when it comes to science.
Even now there is a raging debate over stem cells...why? they are going to be trashed anyways, so why not let science do something positive with the cells?

It's not I think you don't like it, as a school subject. I just wonder why you crucify it to match your belief system. Choosing to believe or follow just one theory or even fact for that matter is not scientific at all. Science is always changing. And always will.

I don't know why, but SOME of them are under the misconception that ALL Christians are "anti-Science."
