First, it's December 21, not the 23rd. And no, it will not be the end of the world. It is just when the Mayan calendar ends for this "Age." Apparently, this is the fifth "Age," each having perished in some apocalyptic way. One was flooded, another destroyed by a plague, another invaded by hordes of jaguars, and so on. There is no logical reason to believe that the world will really end.
I must ask, though. Did you go crazy with the "Shift" key?

That's the day that the Mayan calendar stops. Some believe that means the end of the world. I don't know if it's true, but if we do what we need to now, it won't matter. We'll be ready. Keep in mind, every generation has had those that thought the end would come in their lifetime, and we're still here. Only God knows for sure.
