Yes, that's where Motley Crue met and wrote "Shout at the Devil".

I'm sorry to say that they are still around in the same and/ or different forms.
*Edit* -- Okay, they don't call themselves "metal deprogramming camps." But if a parent sees heavy metal as a sign that their child is being unruly and falling into "Satan's trap" or whatever, they can send their kids to a place like this:

You know where you can stick that downward pointing thumb.
*Edit 2* -- Okay, I was looking for websites of places like this. You can search "teen behavior modification camps" on Yahoo and find sanitized ads by the organizations themselves, or you can go to "teenliberty.org" and find out some of the dirty little secrets about some of these places, as well as links to better sites. I'm not sure if there were "demetalizing" camps for that purpose alone, but a lot of those places distributed ads and literature that said "heavy metal" was a sure sign that their kids needed to go to into a behavior modification program, lest the Devil take control of their lives or something.

Seriously? Huh. I don't remember anything like that. I wish I did; it sounds highly amusing.
