They don't want that s h i t back. Some folks have turned medals awarded to them back, but the discharge is unique to the servicemember and turning it back in would be ridiculous. (Some of their benefits are tied to that piece of paper, so they should re-think any politically motivated protest gestures done with their discharges.)
P.S.
lisab: What the hell are you talking about?

Another jewel from Eruidiot.

You can throw away your DD214 if you want, but that just means that you dont have any way of proving that you recieved an honorable discharge.

If you served in the military and dont have an honorable discharge then usually that makes you look like a criminal in the eyes of say a potential employer.

The government on the other hand could care less what the particular veteran does with their copy of their DD214 since the government will always keep a copy of the original somewhere.

You of course know this right? On your personal information you have listed that you are a veteran.

Of course if you dont know this then one can only conclude that you are not a veteran like you claim, wow big suprise there.

For those of you who don't know, Erudite is a troll. He comes on here, trying to get a rise out of us, and thinks it's funny. His favorite line is asking why the Marines are crying at the Big Boy resaraunt. But, he should turn his honorable discharge back in. His actions on here prove there is nothing honorable about him.

You asked this a few days ago, Alzheimer's is back, that's what you get for sucking on lemons with old wrinkly Fonda giving back a piece of paper means nothing, Vietnam Vets who were brain washed by Hippy Tree Huggers threw their medals and not pieces of paper into the garden of the White-House.

Nothing. They will shred it and forget about it. You will have the pleasure of thinking that you showed them, but all you did was give away education and employment benefits that you earned. Hell, Kerry threw his medals over the White House fence but when nobody cared he just bought another set and put them back up on his wall.

He will get bogged down in an administative nightmare, if he ever needs the VA, or his family wishes to have him honored as a veteran, upon his death. Otherwise nothing will happen.
