Sure sounds like it: an image of something on the earth. I don't see how it could fail to apply.

Oh, but of course. . .and that black velvet Elvis painting hanging on your den wall, the picture of your sainted grandma that you keep in your wallet, those snapshots you took last year of Graceland, and a whole lot of other "images" that you've collected over the years.

I doubt if you worship those images, and we Catholics certainly don't worship pictures or statues of the saints. Enough said.

Not unless you are planning on bowing down and worshiping them.

It also doesn't include pictures of your kids, parents, or little dog Fluffy. Or statues of George Washington or Thomas Jefferson. Unless you bow down and worship them.

Having pictures of them to remind you of what they did is probably okay, worshipping them in lieu of God is not.
