You can have a lazy eye fixed to it aligns properly with the other eye but if you are having vision problems, there's not much that can be done about that unless it's caught early enough. My sister had amblyopia as a result of being cross eyed but her problem didn't improve after attempts to fix it with patching and glasses. The doctors offered to perform surgery on her to fix the crossed eyes but it would have left her wall-eyed so our parents declined. Besides, it's not that obvious that she is cross eyed but it was enough to affect her vision.

My friend did when she was 10: She had to wear a patch over the good eye to make the lazy eye muscles work harder. Ask your doctor.

My 12-year-old daughter has lazy eye in both eyes. No surgery was offered, but when they prescribed contacts to replace eyeglasses she was wearing, her eyesight improved to almost 20/20 (satisfactory).
