Sounds strange , but if you want to get rid of it i'm sure someone will take it off your hands . I don't think this is one of the major factors of keeping yourself motivated , because if tv made you lazy or in your words fatter . Then you will just find something else to do . Try joining a gym or church or some more activites with friends

We kept the TV but canceled our cable subscription, so we just get one or two channels now that we watch maybe max 1 hour per week. It was hard at first to tear away from programs that we regularly watched, but after about 2 weeks we didn't miss anything and now we would not consider going back to a subscription service. It's very liberating to be able to concentrate on other aspects of life and made us realize how much time we were wasting with TV.

The number one benefit is that you will become more active if you don't have a TV. Hopefully you'll get more exercise and take up a hobby like a sport like running. Not having a TV will also force you to socialize more with people outside of the house.

Good for you. My TV hypnotizes me. Puts me under a spell and I lose lots of hours watching reruns when I could be developing my mind! I have a stack of books I'd like to get around to reading. But I will never get rid of my TV. They have some good stuff on there too.

well you wont have any reason to be a couch potato so you will be more inclined to "get off your seat and move your feet" plus your house will probably stay cleaner cause you wont have nothing else to do, and you will find other activities to do (course if you have the net then you may sink into it which is just as bad if not worse than tv) good luck

there are NO benefits to getting rid of your t.v.
No one will buy it for 1/2 or more of the price you originally paid so unless it's a health hazard; I would just keep it and give it to someone you really can't stand

I am about ready to get rid of my tv service just to save money. But yea tv sucks because you have so many channels and they rarely have something good on. It sucks.
