Honestly, I just drove 900+ miles over Christmas and noticed some people drive only in the left lane. Doesn't the sign say "keep right except to pass." No matter how fast you think you are going, there is always someone else going faster who may pass you. I can't count the number of people I passed on the right this trip, it was ridiculous. Why do some people do this?

...also, they weren't passing anyone. Wide open space with no one 1/2 mile in front or behind them and still in the left lane, why!?

"Um.... then why were you in the left lane yourself, to have to pass them on the right"

I wasn't in the left lane, I passed them from the right lane. No where do I say I was in the left lane. I am never in the left lane unless I am passing someone. Read before you post.

I drive almost an hour to work each day on a very busy expressway. I regularly "run with the pack" of people who are going a little over the speed limit.
I'll be following a group of cars going 5 to 8 miles per hour over the limit and suddenly we come to the one driver who feels compelled to enforce the speed limit.
One by one we all pass on the right. After the first one or two cars, you know the log jam has been noticed. That's when it becomes obvious that the driver isn't just ignorant, they are an arrogant and self-righteous idiot with an attitude!
I think it's less dangerous and arrogant to drive 8 miles over the speed limit in a group than it is to make everybody go around you. Especially in heavy traffic.
Some people must think that I'm the idiot. Well then, why would you try to make an "idiot like me" mad by flaunting your rolling road block? Are you trying to get me to do something REALLY dumb? You should know an "idiot like me" (with a demonstrated disregard for the law) could be dangerous if provoked! Why would you challenge me to a power struggle over the left lane when you could easily let me pass?
I'm really not a bad person or bad driver. I'm just another guy trying to get to work without any hassle. Please, save us both the road rage and let me pass. Not a threat! Just an idea!
Thank you!

I know a few of these people, and they think they get the best ride in the left lane. It annoys me because, as you stated, the law is keep right except to pass. If you are not passing, you should be traveling in the center or right lanes.

Not saying it's right.

Most people who ride in the the left lane, stay there because they don't want to pay attention to traffic. They don't want to get over for people merging or turning onto the road. and they don't want to have to change lanes when they do come up to people that they want to move around.

By the way if someones going the speed limit or over it, you shouldn't pass them anyways. Legally you can pass a car as long as you stay under the speed limit yourself. You can get ticketed otherwise. And you are talking about people you had to pass, that were in the left lane with wide open road all around them...... Um.... then why were you in the left lane yourself, to have to pass them on the right. Sounds like you might have been over there too much also.

People think they are in the "power" position, the"fast lane" or they'll get there sooner.
Put it all in a nutshell......alot of people are just plain rude. They think it's their road. I agree with you though, it's really annoying.

i dunno i f u read the rules of the road book when u had the drivers test, because it says that left lanes r for cars that r goin faster, ironically faster than what the speed limit sign says, n the right lane/s r 4 drivers that r going slower than usual.
