running outside is so much better but u would not catch me doing it in this weather. i would not be risking frostbite and a flu. u cant be the feel of fresh air, its more tasking and less boring so u get a lot more from it. outside surface is harder than the treadmill so not only do u burn more calories and improve ur fitness level, u get more toned to. the benefits are amazing but also bcos its harder surface u put more pressure on ur joints which isn so good as it could cause wear and tear. i could run 4 days a week on a treadmill but limit it 2 2 a week out side and between march and august for me that is

Well first of all, you get a nice breeze of fresh air outside and you can run freely instead of being within the same meter of your treadmill. Yes there is a much higher danger when you run outside than indoors but If you keep to the pavement and run in the day then nothing bad could happen. Trust me, running outside is so much better than running inside. Oh and I hope you had a Merry Christmas too! Thanks. =]

I like to jog outside more as its being outdoors and i dont know why but i feel i get more of a workout, also your pushing yourself foward unlike on a running machine. I feel that on the uneven ground your using more muscles too. Its just nicer to be outdoors. :)

Sounds like you aint gonna jog outside, but believe me its the best. Plenty of fresh air for one. A real sense of achievment because you can really see how far you have gone. Change of scenery and interest. It costs you nothing!

Fresh air, sunshine, change of scenery BUT if you don't feel safe where you jog, stick with the gym.

sorry i am no fitness expert but i like it better out in the cold, more exhillarating and more fresh air plus no stuffy sweaty people next to you looking over at your stats on the treadmill.

although I'm guilty in that I don't exercise,I would say outside is best, the fresh air in your lungs, the changing scenery, and because your out, your now committed to finish your run to get home.

The hard surfaces on sidewalks can damage joints when running. I prefer a treadmill.
