Leviticus 12:6-7
And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or dove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest: Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her.

No, God told Adam and Eve to go and populate the earth, why would he have told them to sin?

Sounds like typical Bible bias. It was men that wrote the Bible. Ever notice how many prostitutes are in the Bible, and then how many women there are?

No offense, because you are obviously a follower of the Bible. As a former follower I became disillusioned by biases and politics like this. Now, I try to find the good, (the 10 Commandments are an obvious start), but not take some of it too seriously.

If it wasn't for childbearing, we would have been extinct long ago.

it has to do with blood and stuff. therefore a ritual purification was called for. (That is one of the many questions I hope the Messiah will clear up on the other side--- If I remember to ask--- somehow it probably won't be important then.)
