Well, seeing as 63% of the population reckon plasma is better, I'd go for plasma...

I think a plasma is better if you are going for bigger tv than 42 inch as with a plasma i think although the picture is ever so slightly duller than a LCD the colours and picture is sharper. With an LCD that size from what i have seen you get alot more blurring. If you go for a plasma pioneer are fantastic as well are samsung. Pioneer have amzing quality. But samsung have just released a tv with a contrast of 25000:1 which is superb.Go for a high contrast of no less than 15000:1 on a TV that size. Possibly a 100 hz which is a motion blur reductor but it's not everything. Go for the latest model to ensure you get the best technology. All the best.

Pioneer, Panasonic, Hitachi makes the most reliable units out there.

Samsungs are just crap.
Same with any wally world unit.

For LCD, Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, Hitachi, Mitsubishi.

The weight of a 50"+ Plasma TV requires a lot of consideration. Plus, the wall mounts for sets of this size get ridiculously more expensive, due to the massive weight. But if you simply MUST have your TV on the wall, go for it.

A lot of people seem to believe that plasma is the only way to go. Personally, I've seen better pictures on DLP and LCD sets for lots less money.

We were told by the shop assistant that when plasma tv's have a problem they are usually a write-off, so we went for lcd. Also unless viewing plasma straight on it can be patchy.
