I believe that the issue of illegal immigrants can be solved by giving amnesty only for the illegal entry, provide work permits for the immigrants after they have passed the test of never having been involved in crime, no gang ties, and their family members have not been involved in any of the same.
And after ten years if they still have been "clean" (paid taxes, not committed any crimes, and etc.), and can pass the immigration test related to English, American history, and pledge allegiance to our country only, then citizenship will be granted. Also, if they enter our military for four years and able to pass citizenship test, citizenship will be granted upon honorable discharge.
I don't see any logical reason for them to be required to exit the country first and then apply for the work permit.

Amnesty was granted to illegal aliens once several years ago. I believe it was during the regan administration, but not really sure. All it did was cause ten times as many illegals to enter this country. Amnesty doesn't work! No one, with a few exceptions, wants amnesty in any shape of form!
Michael R!..... The Irish that came to this country came here legally! They waited for their turn! They followed the laws of this country. The illegals who are flooding our nation from across the southern border are criminals and should be treated as such.
There is absolutely no way to compare the legal immigrants that have come to this country, to the illegal aliens that are sucking our economy nearly dry.

“I don’t think the problem of illegal immigration will ever be solved until we have a healthy, thriving economy.”
The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. This is my six point plan:
Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals.
Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas.
No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws.
No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services.
End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong.
Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods. Ron Paul Revolution!!!!!!!

Absolutely not. The 1986 amnesty only brought in a tidal wave of more illegals, regardless of how many years illegals, already in the country, had lived here. The same would happen again if amnesty was granted.

against and that i'm a Libertarian. i comprehend that alot of persons have self belief we Libertarians desire finished and total anarchy, yet that purely isn't actual. I comprehend that government has a place, in basic terms an extremely constrained one and area of that place is protecting our borders. A united states of america without boundary lines will quickly give up to be a rustic as a results of fact limitless immigration won't be in a position to be sustained. that's certainty.

They tried that in 1986, and proved that without first having a good border defense program (which is dramatically underfunded at the moment), amnesty never works. How quickly we forget history.
And screw the guy who implicated racism (that we would give the Irish a free pass). If ANYONE is here illegally, that proves that they are willing to circumvent law and order in order to get where they want. I wouldn't want illegal Irish here either.

Lou Dobbs reported that the Mexican government is planning to implant biochips into people who can legally cross their southern border.
No! I do not support amnesty and that doesn't make me a bad guy. There is much more at stake here than most people want to consider.
We're at a point, in our history, when we have to use our brains at least as much as our hearts. What may appear, on the surface, to be the humanitarian approach: might actually be very costly to humanity.

No Amnesty. Give ANY Illegal Alien 60 days notice to deport themselves. Cut off ALL Social Services starting day 1 except Emergency Medical Care.
The Illegal Aliens WILL deport themselves back to their homeland.

Not as a standalone proposition - why should their concerns trump the impact on schools and hospitals and services to Americans? As part of a solution that includes going forward denial of services including education (but not emergency med care prior to deportation) I might accept it if it were in a form that barred future 'family preferences' to bring even more, and were only for the 'good sort', not criminals or gang members or those who have been living off of dependant children welfare services.

NO, why reward illegal behavior. Do I get amnesty as an American Citizen if I choose not to pay my taxes or if I rob banks to support my family ?

HECK NO !!!!!!! Maybe before but not now. They have no respect for other races. They make commentary about whites and blacks as well. I no longer have respect for them. As I know a lot of them and what they do- drugs , drunkeness ,prostitutes and underage teens. They don't respect the women they leave behind in Mexico and other places and there are Aids epidemics because of this. They need to go to back to their native land and take care of their wives and children.
