either because of atheists' lack of belief in satan (the giver of temptation) or they don't care, or because christians feel more sensitive to those things, all of the above or neither?

Given that an atheist does not believe in God, they must believe in evolution as there is no other method by which life could have come about.

Since evolution has a purely materialistic bases (chemistry, biology and physics) it follows that evolved beings can not have a spiritual part, so no life after death, devil or God, etc.

Since one of the main supporting tenets of evolution is the idea of "Survival of the Fittest" then what makes you strong must be 'good' and what weakens you must be 'bad'. Therefore temptation for an atheist must be the urge to do something that would weaken the individual, hence the chocolate brownie is 'bad' for the dieting atheist as excess weight decreases you length of life and makes you less attractive to the opposite sex and therefore decreases your chances for reproducing so your personal genes have less chance of being passed onto the next generation.

However by following this line of arguing we must conclude that rape, murder, theft, etc must be 'good' as they increase your personal chances of survival and reproducing. Therefore societal laws against these things are 'bad' and any impulse the individual has to obey them would therefore be a temptation. (The natural end of evolutionary ideas is the philosophy and practise of anarchy.)

I hope all atheists are severely tempted.

But one must wonder where this impulse to go against their 'survival law' and obey societal law could come from...

Xians are a superstitious lot and that's the beginning and end of it.
Atheists 'suffer' temptation too but decide against various actions for logical and life-sustaining reasons.
We don't walk under a ladder without first seeing there's nothing above that could drop on us.

Most atheists choose to do the right thing cos it's the right thing to do NOT because some ancient tome based in Bronze Age mythology suggests it's advantageous to do so cos you'll get Brownie Points and go to a mythical place after death to be with the Sun King in the sky somewhere.

I don't personally believe that Christians suffer greater temptation than atheists but I do feel they feel more guilt about the temptations that come their way. When you believe in nothing to begin with there is no guilt.

Temptation to christians is not the same as temptation to atheists. Premarital sex is a big temptation to christians because it goes against their bible. It is not so for atheists.

A big chocolate brownie is a temptation to atheists who are dieting, and may be the same for christians who are dieting. However, christians would be more likely to claim that the temptation is coming from the devil, rather than their stomach's rumbling.

Ignorant Christians think they have to adhere to a totally ridiculous man made dogma supported by their buy-bull. So, that would make their temptations greater.

Atheists don't care who other people sleep with, they enjoy shrimp, they know that doing right is the reward in itself.

Atheists do not fear any imaginary place invented by a church to keep control over people who are easily led.

Nor do atheists have a built in scapegoat when they make a mistake, they have no imaginary satan to blame.

None of the above.

Everyone thinks about doing things that are hurtful, or antisocial, or illegal, or whatever. That doesn't mean that there is any kind of deity behind it, that is human nature.

So if I, an atheist, decide not to steal something, why am I deciding not to do that, if I am not answering to any Big Daddy in the Sky? And why does a Christian refrain from doing certain things? And why, if I will get no "eternal reward" out of it, would I be kind to anyone? The fact that I do, and that I can, proves that morality does not come from religious faith.

What takes more strength, do you think - doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do, or doing it to please an imaginary friend and win a "get out of death free" card?

Yes because Christians have a moral compass, and they try to remain holy. An atheist really needs not be tempted, because has said in his heart there is no God to answer to, so there is no conscience to hold him back.

Um, what you're calling "Christian morality" isn't Christian. whether you entirely bypass via the Bible, it nevertheless isn't Christian morality. it may be Jewish. there's no such element as "Christian morality" And proscribing intercourse to easily husband/spouse marriage isn't Christian the two lol it fairly is a cultural element, no longer a non secular one. If rejecting abortion as inhumane is Christian, then there specific are alot of Christians interior the U. S. who are not Christian. incredibly pondering the accepted public who get abortions listed below are Christian. back, none of what you have listed is "Christian morality". there is no longer a single element in Christianity it fairly is unique. It grow to be the two taken from Judaism or Paganism.

Shouldn't it be vice-versa, I mean Christians are always going around with their propaganda trying to convert everyone.
