what does going to church have to do with their drinking? they're alcoholics but maybe their religious.

Just because you drink, you shouldn't be able to worship God? Some religions are okay with drinking.

sounds like someone is riding the fence and need some serious counciling. that person will need a persoanl relationship with God. there isn't going to be anything that anyone can say to make him kick his habit.
he/she has made the 1st step...but they can't be helped spiritually if they aren't willing.

because church is for sinners. They need help and are seeking it in their own way. Tell your friend "Judge not lest ye be judged".

I can't understand why alcoholics would choose Jesus as a role model when that guy couldn't even finish a glass of water without turning it into booze.
