Is it smelly, are there homeless people, anything that you don't like?

Well basically you get used to the different types of people that can come on the trains. Very rarely will you encounter a train that's smelly with a homeless person on it unless you're traveling at night. Homeless people will go on & off different train carts asking for money, but they definitely won't just stay on one cart. If you do encounter a crazy person (meaning a loud homeless person on just someone loud) don't be freaked because there are police every where on the subway. But also, don't pay any attention. Don't even make eye contact. For example, read a book so you're not caught staring, listen to your iPod and sleep (but keep your iPod somewhere safe so no one will take it). I take the train every day to school & I find it very relaxing just sitting there listening to my iPod and looking out the window. Sometimes, though, especially if you're traveling to the city, it will get very crowded ESPECIALLY in rush hour. People are very pushy and impatient trying to get to work. If you do plan on taking the train, it can be a very cool experience.

attempting to be an constructive Mets fan, I think of the Mets winning the NLCS over the Phillies to go into the international sequence. The Yankees may well be stopped by the Rays interior the ALCS. I doubt a 2009 Subway international sequence yet i'm specific one long island team will make it to the tutor, yet i'm hoping that isn't the Yankees. Being a brand ny team, I used to love them... till they have been given waaay out of hand...

The subway is an amazing resource and my favorite thing about NYC. However, it is annoying when individuals' behavior worsens the crowding and delays inherent to a big public transit system...such as when people block the doors at a stop...or try to shove their way on before others have a chance to exit...or fail to move to the center of the car...in particular, tall people need to understand that they are best suited to stand in mid-car and hold the overhead bar, so as to free up the full-length bars for us short people!

crowds and noise are the worst at certain times. But the street musicians, the convience and the price make up for any shortcomings of the subway

Compared to the Washington DC subway, the NYC subways are noisy and smelly, but true New Yorkers know it's good for them--just makes them tougher. If you can make it here, you'll make it anywhere, it's up to you........

Weirdos. Also it's crowded and sometimes the lights go out and the subway car stops who knows why.

The only thing I don't like is when the subway is re-routed unexpectantly and you can't hear the announcements clearly to know exactly where it's now going.

That doesn't happen quite as often as it used to, but it still happens (happened to me last Wednesday.) And the announcements are STILL impossible to hear!!!

Around 3 PM when all of the kids get out of school when they act up, scream to the top of their lungs with bad language, no respect to others, using the "n" word to each other...I counted 146 on a trip.

Its not as bad as people make it out to be. The worst thing has to be how crowded it can get.. There are occasionally some weird people that get on, but its something to just get used to.

I dislike when trains get crowded and/or delayed, people who block the doors, and also people who don't wait for others to get off first before they get on! Oooh I hate that !!!
