Answer number two is the best on time and informations of Elijah and the kings. Solomon died 997 B. C. [ king Rehoboam, Abijam, Asa & Jehosaphat to end 913 B. C. ]. Jehoram will have eight [ 8 ] years as king.
Most believe that Elijah went to heaven when he was lifted up and left Elisha out in the field [ Elisha face a taunting mob or gang [ about age 18 to 24 ], that said," go up bald head ]."
Elijah did go up as the birds fly and had to be delievered to a secret and safe place to write. He was taken up in the second year of the king and in the sixth year the king got a letter from him, the letter gives the king two years, a total of eight [ 8 ] years for the son of Jehosaphat.

Elijah wa one of the foremost prophets of Israel. Evidently his home was in Tishbeh, thought by some to be a village in the land of Gilead, E of the Jordan River. (1Ki 17:1) He started his long career as prophet in Israel during the reign of King Ahab, who began to rule about 940 B.C.E., and continued during the reign of Ahab’s son Ahaziah (began c. 919 B.C.E.). (1Ki 22:51) The last time he is mentioned as serving as a prophet (this time for Judah) is toward the end of the eight-year reign of King Jehoram of Judah, which rule started in 913 B.C.E.
